“Let the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God. Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.” And he took them in his arms and blessed them, laying his hands on them. - Mark 10:13-16

On a beautiful summer morning, a child wakes up and is energized to walk over to one of their favourite places. They are excited about their day ahead and, more importantly, to see their camp leaders. Your ongoing support has been a blessing and helps TCM run programs like Sonshine Day Camp - a seven week summer program for children to spend their days in various activities such as games, Bible time, field trips, swimming, and music. This summer, the theme is ‘Mastercraft’, inspired by the popular video game ‘Minecraft’, where campers will apply the strategies of the video game to Bible-based lessons. 17 summer interns will come alongside to serve in our four communities to build relationships with the campers and teach the building blocks that make up God’s community. Here is a story from one of our summer interns

My name is Lyka. I completed the Early Childhood Education diploma program at George Brown College and in September, I’ll be studying Early Childhood Development at Ryerson University. I started attending Toronto City Mission’s Youth Extreme in St. James Town when I was in grade 9. One of the many things I liked about Youth Extreme was that my small group members and leaders were the same people throughout my four years there. I became close to leaders, and today, I look at them as mentors. As an intern this summer, I am going back to my roots and serving to help build a new generation of kids in the community where I grew up. I pray that we will be able to become a unified community, and experience God’s love. TCM has played a huge role in my life, and I hope that the campers, TLC’s, and even interns will be able to have just as a meaningful experience as I did.

Thank you for your continued support in building loving relationships to bring hope to our children and families impacted by poverty. Your additional one-time gift of $100 will help send one kid to camp for one week. As you enjoy your summer, we invite you to pray for the summer interns, the campers, and the staff.
