Easy to Make Homemade Naan Pizzas

By Carmen Tan, Kingston-Galloway | Outreach Worker

At Kingston-Galloway, our kid’s favourite activity is cooking! They love making their own creations and eating it for a snack. When it comes to cooking, we had to think of creative ways to get every kid involved. They love making rice krispies, learning how to fry an egg and making pancakes. But if you don’t have a pan or burner for every child, they can get bored and it often creates more chaos than peace.

Over the years, we found our favourite recipe is making your own homemade pizzas. Each child gets their own pizza, and they are able to put on their own toppings. Everyone is usually making the pizzas at the same time and it keeps them occupied. When the kids are making their own pizzas, it’s a great time to chat and learn more about them.

Activities that can involve each child are the best activities. We hope you love making this easy naan pizza at home!

This recipe takes approximately 30 - 35 minutes to make.

Easy to Make Homemade Naan Pizzas Recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 1 Pack of Plain Naan Bread (or make it fancy with garlic naan bread) It usually comes in a pack of 5. You can find it in your local supermarket in the bread department or Costco

  • 1 Can Pizza Sauce or Tomato Sauce

  • 1 Pack Uncooked White Mushrooms

  • 1 Block of Cheese

  • 1 Bag of Pepperoni or any choice of meat

  • 1 Can of Pineapple Tidbits

Equipment:

  • Oven or Toaster Oven

  • Baking Tray

  • Parchment Paper

  • Cutting Board

  • Knife

  • Bowls for your Pizza Toppings

  • Spoon

  • Can Opener

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

  2. Prepare your pizza toppings by washing your vegetables (mushrooms and peppers)  and cut the mushrooms in thin long pieces and dice your peppers into cubes.

  3. Wash all the cans with water and open the cans with your car opener.

  4. Cut your block of cheese in small chunks to shred to your desired size.

  5. Place the naan bread pita on a plate and add 1 spoonful of pizza sauce. Spread it with the back of the spoon to edges leaving approximate 2 cm of room for a crust.

  6. Then add the toppings you would like on top of the pizza. Our kids love meat but we try to encourage to add 4 things of vegetables or fruit. Finish off the toppings with your shredded cheese.

  7. Place your finished pizza pita on your lined baking sheet with parchment paper.

  8. Place it in your oven and let it bake till the cheese melts. Bake it approximately for 3 minutes.

  9. Take it out of the oven and cut it into quarters. Voila! Enjoy!
