Emely Carcelen

After completing her college placement (January to April) and the summer internship program (June to August) at TCM in 2024, Emely felt a strong calling from God to continue her journey with TCM and to build healthy relationships and provide guidance with the children and families she works with. As a new Outreach Worker at the Jesse-Ketchum community site, Emely trusts that God will continue to work through her to demonstrate Christ's teachings and help the community impacted by poverty.

Emely hopes to inspire the children and youth to see God’s work through her actions and guidance.

Holding Faith Through Hardship

When I reflect on keeping faith in God through hardship, the story of Job immediately comes to mind. He suffered so much, but he continued to have faith in God. Job shows us that we must endure hardships and still hold on to our faith. However, Job didn’t handle his hardship with a smile on his face. He suffered and was in pain and even questioned God.

Comfort and Love in Grief

We can feel grief when something grand has changed in our lives such as: losing a job, a change in social setting, moving, or ending a chapter in your life that you didn’t want to end. All of these things can trigger us to start grieving, without us noticing. The reason it's important for us to know this is because when we see ourselves going through this process of emotions it's important that we bring God into our lives and ask him how we should handle these big emotions.

Trusting In the Plan He Has Set For You

When entering the second semester of my final year, I had no idea of what God had in store for me. I had to find a second placement and I was worried I wouldn’t be able to find one. This is where I found myself praying about what my next steps needed to be and asked God to put me where he needs me to be according to the plan he has in store for me.
