2026 Summer Interns
June 8, 2026 - August 14, 2026
This summer’s cohort of interns has the opportunity to serve at TCM’s Sonshine Day Camp, a free summer program for children and families impacted by poverty. Interns will work together to provide a safe, fun, and loving environment for campers and to share the love of God in word and conduct.
Over the first three weeks, interns will participate in workshops and training in practical skills, personal awareness, and spiritual growth. Afterwards, they will spend the remaining seven weeks of their internship serving at their respective camp sites, interacting daily with the campers they care for. It is here that they strive to help kids get to know Jesus.
Summer Interns are committed to raising a minimum of $1000 individually to help cover program costs, such as program materials, trips for the children, and bus rentals, so that the campers will have a memorable summer.

God has placed on my heart a burden for children impacted by poverty. I hope to show them the riches of God’s grace, which far surpass any material possession. He has called me to serve at TCM’s Sonshine Day camp this summer, where I will pursue my passion of sharing the gospel with children and teens. I hope to grow youth in their spiritual formation, teaching them the disciplines of Christian living like studying the Word, praying and worship. Most of all, I pray the youth of Orton Park will experience the love of Christ through my words and deeds this summer.

God has called me to serve at TCM’s Sonshine Day Camp again this summer, and I am beyond grateful for the opportunity to return for my second year. Last summer strengthened my passion for working with children and sharing the love of Christ with them through both words and my actions. Last summer allowed me to build connections, grow spiritually, and see firsthand how God can work through both mine and the kids' lives.
My hope is to bring my love, leadership, and ability to connect with children into this internship as I help create a welcoming and encouraging environment with a Christ-like heart for every child this summer. I also hope to be a great influence on them as they are building their foundation on Christ.

It is a true blessing to be called once more to serve with TCM’s Sonshine Day Camp for another summer. This year, I am able to bring my skills, experiences and giftings to a new community to help to teach children about God and His love. I wish to continue to serve the children and their families who have been impacted by poverty. Being able to serve the Don Valley Village community is a new opportunity for growth that I am looking forward to.
My hope is that through my service, I am able to share God’s love with both the campers and their families, as well as the staff and volunteers that will be working alongside me.

After serving with Toronto City Mission last summer, I feel very blessed that God has called me to return to the Jesse-Ketchum site. I’m very excited to see what this summer holds and how God will use me throughout my time here again. I pray this opportunity allows me to inspire, teach, and grow with the children as they learn more about Christ and His love. I’m so grateful for this blessing and to witness God working through myself, my fellow interns, and the children for another summer.
My hope is that I’m able to exemplify Christ’s love through strengthening bonds with the children and my fellow interns.

God has called me to serve at TCM’s Sonshine Day camp this summer. This opportunity will allow me to pursue my passion to share the Gospel with children and teens. I have a burden for children who are impacted by poverty. I desire to show them God’s love and teach them who He is. I will get to use my gifting to run camp programs such as teaching bible stories and worship.
My hope is that the children of Toronto will experience the love of Christ through my words and deeds this summer.

Growing up in my church community, I was always involved in summer camps, first being a camper and later becoming a leader. I always enjoyed being in the camp environment while building relationships within my church’s community. Although COVID and school would pull me away from my community, they would also temporarily put a pause on my time serving at summer camps. It wasn’t until a couple of years later that I would be searching for a summer job, and that ultimately led me to Toronto City Mission.
When you spend an extended amount of time with someone, you may start to see growth and changes in their character. Working as a summer intern at Sonshine Day Camp, I have the opportunity to step into a community for 7 weeks, build relationships, and witness God at work.
God has blessed me with the opportunity to serve and witness his work at TCM as a summer intern. This will be my fourth summer working as a summer intern at TCM, where I will be in their community, Don Valley Village, to help run their Sonshine Day Camp. Sonshine Day Camp is a free summer day camp for children in neighbourhoods impacted by poverty. Though this is my fourth summer at TCM, it will be my first summer at DVV, and I will be looking forward to seeing how God will work during the next couple of months.

God has called me to serve at TCM’s Sonshine Day Camp this summer. He has given me the gifts of empathy, patience, and kindness. These are all traits I intend to use to share the gospel with children and teens. I’ve observed that following up is one of the most critical parts of ministry. It’s one thing to show you care; it’s another to show you’re there. Any opportunity to follow up with the kids and see how they are doing is a blessing. I intend to listen to people’s interests and worries, reminding them that they matter. This is a great way to model God’s care for us. I will get to use my gifts to run camp programs such as bible stories and worship.
My hope is to learn to bounce back and improvise when things don’t go as planned. I pray that the kids of Orton Park will build identity in Christ and grow in that freedom.

Through my previous years at TCM, God has grown my heart for the Great Commission and opened my eyes to the need for Him here in Toronto. He has also brought me back to serve for another summer at Sonshine Day Camp, where I will have the privilege of continuing my relationship with the children of Orton Park. With God’s help, I desire to use my gifts of teaching and working with children to demonstrate and speak God’s truth into the lives of everyone I encounter this summer.
My hope is that both the children and I will grow in awe of and reliance on the Lord this summer.

Hello, my name is Menanyamba, and I am honoured to join the TCM Sonshine Day Camp community this summer. I believe God has called me to this season of service to help children uncover the unique beauty and potential He has placed within them. I am eager to grow alongside the team, sharing a heart for these young ones. Whether I am breaking into a song, getting creative with arts and crafts, or simply being a steady, present friend, I am excited to show Christ’s love. My hope is that every child feels truly seen, valued, and encouraged as they discover their identity in Christ.

Excited to be back at Jesse-Ketchum after a summer filled with much growth! This summer, God has placed a specific theme in my mind. Refine.
For the children who recognize me, I have a unique opportunity to share the gospel more personally by building upon their trust. For the new faces, I have an opportunity to build relationships by living out the gospel more sharply and intentionally. I am filled with joy knowing that as Christ refines me in ministry, I can better reflect the Refiner’s image to everyone I encounter this summer.
My hope is that families see Christ working in us and through us, realize His active presence in their lives today, and ultimately open their hearts to His transforming love.

I feel blessed to serve at TCM's Sonshine Day Camp this summer! God has called me to this opportunity that combines what I love most: working with kids, giving back to my community, and sharing the Gospel! I'm excited to use my gifts to display His love and the Gospel to the TCM families. I'm incredibly grateful and cannot wait to see how God works through us this summer.
My hope is that the children within this community experience the love and fullness of joy that comes from knowing and following Christ!

I’m passionate about sharing the Gospel with children and youth. I feel God has called me to return for another summer at Sonshine Day Camp. As a long-time camp counsellor and student in Education, I am excited to continue using my gifts to find fun ways to share about Jesus with kids! I am passionate about working within my own community, where I have seen a great need for support and connection. I pray that the camp environment and my involvement in it will show God’s love to families this summer.
My hope is that the children will feel God’s love through genuine connections with me and other staff.

After spending another year in Toronto, I've felt especially inclined to serve kids and families that have been impacted by poverty in our city. God has given me the opportunity to serve with TCM through Sonshine Day Camp this summer. Although I won’t be as hands-on during camp, I believe that by handling in-office administrative tasks, I can still help create the conditions for the Good News to reach the children in our city.
Ultimately, through being an active witness for Christ, I hope that the children of Toronto will experience God’s love through Sonshine Day Camp.

This summer I have been blessed by the opportunity to serve at TCM’s Sonshine Day Camp. I am really grateful to be able to intern at TCM, as their vision and mission are truly meaningful for me. I am also excited to walk alongside these children to help them grow in their faith journey through the activities that we will be doing and demonstrating the unconditional love that God has poured out on me.
My hope is for these children to encounter and experience God’s unconditional love for them and that I will be more confident in living out my faith.

God has called me to serve at TCM’s Sonshine Day Camp this summer, where I will use my passion for sharing God’s love with younger generations. I believe this program is an important opportunity for me, as it allows me not only to gain experience and build new relationships, but also to step into what I feel is God’s calling in my life. I will seek to build meaningful relationships with staff and children, learning from others with humility and growing together in faith, as we encourage one another in Christ. Through Bible stories, activities, and everyday interactions, I hope to reflect God’s love in a real, kind and memorable way.
My hope is that the children of Toronto City Mission will grow in their understanding of Jesus and be drawn closer to him through this camp.
