Mila desires to serve the Orton Park community by showing and sharing the love of Jesus. She believes in TCM’s holistic approach to addressing poverty which offers hope for lasting change through relying on God’s power to bring about enduring transformation within people and entire communities.
Mila’s hope is that lives may be changed through knowing Jesus as their Lord and Saviour.
As someone who is naturally fearful, the impact of fear continues to affect me today and sometimes it seems like an endless battle to overcome. When we are anxious or worried about something it is usually tied to the fear of what may happen or the fear of the unknown…The type of fear we want to overcome are the ones that overwhelm your life and paralyze you from doing the will of God. In the bible “do not fear” is mentioned multiple times throughout the bible. Yet how do we practically overcome our fears?
This past year God has given me a greater understanding of His fatherly love through serving at Kingston-Galloway. It has been a joy and blessing to watch the kids and youth grow up, but it has also been challenging and heartbreaking walking through various seasons of change alongside them.
At the beginning of the year, we knew it was important to focus on God’s character before we taught the children about God’s promises. How could they put their trust in God they do not know?
My highlight of the week is when we welcome the kids back to camp after a long day of school. Every Monday we sit by the door waiting to hear children’s voices coming down the street from the yellow school bus.
I always thought that being prideful was an overt expression of self-centeredness, arrogance and loud boasting about your own achievements. Yet God showed me that pride can also be found in silence, through deep-rooted stubbornness, self-reliance and unwillingness to ask for help.
