As our children get ready to return to school, I am excited to share with you the exceptional opportunities we offer to support the academic growth and spiritual development of the young minds in our neighbourhoods. 

At TCM, we believe that every child deserves access to quality education and guidance, and we have designed our after-school programs to be inclusive and empowering, ensuring that students from grades 1 to 6 in all three of our communities - Flemingdon Park, Jesse-Ketchum, and Kingston-Galloway - receive the support they need to flourish academically and beyond.

As you know, our communities face unique challenges that can impact the future of our children. The statistics on academic struggles in our neighbourhoods reveal that a significant number of students face difficulties in accessing personalized educational support, which can lead to long-term consequences on their academic achievements and aspirations. 

The EPIC (Education Provided in Community) tutoring program lies at the heart of our commitment to fostering academic, relational, and spiritual growth among our students with one-on-one tutoring, when available. Through this program, we aim to bridge the learning gaps and empower children with the necessary tools to overcome their academic challenges. We are proud to share that we have seen remarkable improvements in students' confidence, motivation, and overall academic performance through our EPIC tutoring program.

Today, I want to introduce you to an exceptional young boy who embodies the spirit of perseverance and progress.

Meet Alex*, a vibrant and determined boy who  had difficulty reading and sounding out words at the beginning of last year. Despite certain learning challenges, Alex’s goal was to learn how to read. This past spring, something truly extraordinary happened. During an Easter reading challenge, Alex appeared disengaged and did not want to participate. But once it was his turn, Alex surprised everyone when he willingly volunteered to read out loud, something he had never done before. With the relentless efforts of our caring tutors and Alex's dedication, his reading skills witnessed a remarkable improvement. The transformation was nothing short of awe-inspiring. Not only did he conquer his reading challenges, but since Easter, he also showcased his progress during our Junior Extreme program, an after-school program designed for junior high students, as our designated reader. 

His story is a testament to the power of our EPIC tutoring program and the difference it can make in a child's life, along with TCM’s other after-school programs. But we couldn't have done it without the support of compassionate individuals like you, who understand the importance of investing in our community's future leaders.

Every donation of $100 can offer one child, like Alex, the opportunity to participate in our EPIC tutoring program for one semester. This support can provide them with the personalized attention, resources, and encouragement they need to succeed academically and build a foundation for lifelong learning.
