I returned for a second year because I felt like my work at Flemingdon Park was not finished. I really connected with all of the children last year, connected with the community and was able to share the gospel with them. I also feel that by doing that I helped open their capacity for God’s love.

Toronto City Mission has helped me find my passion for being in the children's ministry, which led me to pursue a profession in teaching. I want to be able to guide young minds and encourage them in their walk with God while simultaneously strengthening mine.

Going into this time of camp truly feels different going into it a second time as I can focus less on the planning aspects of the internship and focus on building connections with the kids, while also building habits and working on useful skills for myself.

The foundation of my motivation for ministry is the Gospel and the Great Commission. I want to share the good news with whomever, and wherever God has placed me in life.

To be perfectly honest, if I knew just how mentally tiring this summer’s work would be in addition to the physical tax associated with running around with young children everyday, I might have had a little bit more hesitation in responding to God’s call to serve the community in Flemingdon Park this summer.

God has remarkably been moving throughout my time at Toronto City Mission’s Sonshine Day Camp at Jesse Ketchum.

I have the joy of being a part of Toronto City Mission’s (TCM) internship for a third summer overall and I can confidently say that it is both God and my community that have encouraged me to once again see how God transforms His people to allow them to feel loved and accepted.

Everyday I see at least one thing that shows me God is at work. Not only have I been getting closer to God this summer spiritually, I also feel as if my capacity for love has grown exponentially on a daily basis during camp. My faith has grown a lot during this internship. 

Working as a Summer Camp Intern at Toronto City Mission (TCM) has been a blessing this summer! I have been able to create many great relationships with the campers as well as with my fellow interns. I am also grateful for the immense support of prayer and fundraising I have received from friends and family throughout this summer!

Each day at Flemingdon Park has been a journey, starting from 12 campers to now having almost 30 has been a blessing. I

It is clear that God is at work here at Kingston-Galloway. From week one of camp until now, I have seen the hearts of the campers change towards reflecting God’s love to each other and the staff.

Toronto City Mission’s Summer Camp Internship program was a true blessing of an opportunity for me going into this summer. I have been able to see both the campers and myself grow in our faith and as people, while also being able to enjoy and have fun with one another throughout many activities and field trips.

When I look back on my time at my summer office internship with Toronto City Mission (TCM), I am blown away by how God moves – so surely and so steadfastly. I am reminded of God’s sovereignty over our lives and everything that happens in this world.

There’s one thing to know about the kids at KG: they live and breathe dodgeball — it’s treated as a serious Olympic sport out here. They could play days on end and yet still carry with them the widest of smiles and loudest of laughter that echoes in the gym room. 

This summer, I have grown in deeper understanding that salvation belongs to the Lord alone. While we do take part in doing His work in this ministry by building meaningful relationships, having intentional conversations, and sharing the love of Christ — it is ultimately God who saves and plants the seeds in the hearts at Kingston-Galloway.

My time as a summer intern has been an incredible experience. Reflecting upon my time at Toronto City Mission (TCM), I think back to our training period. I didn’t know what to expect as I was excited and afraid of what my summer would be like.
