Blessed Through His Plan
Being granted the opportunity to serve as a summer intern for Sonshine Day Camp has been one of my greatest blessings this year. I started off the summer pretty nervous, as I didn’t know what to expect as a first-year summer intern, but I’ve never felt more overwhelmingly supported in my life by my fellow interns, TCM staff, and most importantly, God.
I feel so touched every time I watch the children pray, ask questions about God, or express their trust and belief in Him. One of my favourite things to do at the camp is to observe and listen to the children throughout the Bible lessons. You can see their curiosity, trust, and warmth in their eyes and facial expressions as they listen, answer, and ask questions. I’ve heard a child as young as five years old at the camp answer a question by saying, “God loves us and wants what’s best for us.” Growing up as a follower of Christ, I was taught Bible stories, such as the story of Moses, from a very young age. Being able to create a Bible lesson for the children, knowing that it’ll spark their curiosity towards God and His love, is so moving.
I’m very passionate about my faith, and I feel incredibly blessed that I can implement my beliefs in my workspace. I feel and can see the Holy Spirit moving through not only me but also my fellow interns. I feel very proud to be able to witness us all lead by example for these children and encourage them in their walks with God. Being surrounded by followers of Christ who encourage me has helped me grow in my faith throughout this summer. Many of the children have expressed to me how much they like me, and it’s very touching to have such an impact on them through our day-to-day interactions. This summer intern position has allowed me to build many relationships, whether that be with my fellow interns or the children. I’m incredibly grateful and blessed to build these relationships and bond in our love for God.
“May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
