Jesus restores our relationship with God
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”
I grew up without a relationship with my earthly father. For a long time, it didn’t feel like anything was missing. I had other men in my life who stepped into that role—father figures who provided guidance, support, and love. Because of them, my heart never felt empty.
It wasn’t until I grew older and began to reconnect with my father, thanks to the influence and encouragement of others, that I realized something had been missing all along. There was a part of my heart I had unknowingly locked away—a space meant for a father’s love. Only when that connection began to be restored did I truly recognize the depth of that absence.
In the same way, I now see how other things in life took the place of my heavenly Father. Before I truly knew Christ, my sinful nature led me to fill that God-shaped void with temporary “father figures”—habits, people, ambitions, and distractions that could never satisfy. It took years for me to understand what a real relationship with God looks like and even longer to begin living in that truth.
Just as others helped reconnect me with my earthly father, someone also made a way for me to have a relationship with my heavenly Father. That someone is Jesus Christ, my Savior. Through His sacrifice on the cross—motivated by love for me and for the world—He opened the way for us to be reconciled with God.
When we accept Jesus, our hearts become whole. The missing piece is restored. What once felt broken or incomplete is now made new. It’s as if that part of our heart was never missing at all.
Just like someone who is physically sick needs a doctor, our sinful hearts need healing—and Jesus is that healer. Through Him, our brokenness is mended, and our relationship with God is restored.
