Encountering Joy

By Dorothy Wong, Development Assistant

Have you ever met someone famous?  Do you remember the feeling that you experience?

Many of the female youth in our programs get very excited about certain bands that include band members of a certain gender.  They go crazy whenever the band name is mentioned.  I don’t even want to think about what it is like when they get to see them live in concert.   This got me thinking about the first time I met the Lord.  They joy and the peace I experienced was something I had never experienced before.  Since then I have often forgotten what it is like to know this joy of the Lord.  Not because He isn’t there, but because I have forgotten to look for Him.  Amid all the brokenness that we see in the communities we serve and in our own lives, we can experience this everlasting joy when we seek Christ in every moment of our lives.  We are so blessed to be able to witness the joy of our children or youth meeting Christ whether it’s for the first time or the hundredth time.  Have you encountered the joy of the Lord today?

Psalm 71:23 My lips will shout for joy when I sing praise to you— I whom you have delivered.
