All about Him

I entered this internship feeling nervous, unqualified, and filled with worries. I obsessed over the qualities I lacked as a leader, having never taught Bible stories to large groups of children, and compared myself to returning interns who appeared to have it all figured out. I was afraid of behaviour management, the kids not retaining anything from my Bible lessons, and failing to carry out God’s purpose in placing me at TCM.

It wasn’t until a couple of weeks into camp that I realized how self-centered my mindset was. While having a conversation with a friend about my struggles, she said something that I needed to hear: “Though it’s hard, it's not about you anyway. It’s all about God.” I was so focused on improving myself and ensuring my actions were pleasing to God that I made this internship all about myself. When in reality, I needed to surrender everything and make it all about Him.

I saw this shift in perspective translate into how I served the kids. I stopped overthinking my every move and learned to lead with confidence, knowing that God was using me for His glory! Instead of needing my activities, behaviour management, and Bible to be perfect, I chose to entrust the outcomes into God’s hands. And God proved His faithfulness every time! He placed me in this position knowing I wouldn’t have it all figured out, and through that, I have learned to rely solely on Him.

Today, I am incredibly grateful that God placed me at TCM. I have been able to form meaningful relationships and fun memories with the kids, learn more about myself, and deepen my trust in God. I look forward to serving the children every day, knowing that God is working through me and His grace is sufficient!

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.
